I’d like to tell you a story about a girl who dreamed big dreams God had placed in her heart. She dreamed of an extraordinary life filled with wonder and adventure. She dreamed of relationships and writing, of exploration that engaged others.
What the girl couldn’t perceive, but her great God could, was the new thing He was doing. Her extraordinary life was taking shape as the girl, now a woman, gave birth to her daughter, born with a rare genetic disease. The new thing was springing forth as she built a community of families affected by disability. God was making a river in the desert as the girl wrote about her life with her daughter and invited others into that conversation.
That’s where we find her dream today, coming to life in my book Space to Process. God has brought my dreams of an extraordinary life and writing to fruition through the Dream Forum. In stillness and discerning within community, God showed me that writing this book was the next step in the new thing He is doing. In Space to Process, I share stories from my parenting journey. Then readers are prompted to reflect on their experiences caring for a child who is neurodivergent or living with a rare disease or disability.
