DESCRIPTION:Contemplative prayer fuels action in the world\, and when it is fully rooted in God\, leads to a deeper concern for social justice. Come and be empowered to consider a variety of ways in which our justice work might be anchored in the depths of God’s love for us and for our world. \nGoldenwood is proud to be co-sponsoring this conference at Princeton Theological Seminary’s Center for Contemplative Leadership.  All are welcome to attend in person or online. A certified instructor from Academy Kintsugi will guide a small group through Kintsugi techniques to equip each participant with the needed skills and materials. Every participant will need to bring with them a broken\, cracked\, or chipped piece of ceramic — a mug\, a bowl\, a cup\, or a plate. This reflective practice is a powerful experience in seeing how the very cracks in our lives become the places in which new beauty can emerge to nurture a community that seeks to turn brokenness into beauty in our hearts and broader culture. SUMMARY:Trellis: A New Vision for Work
DESCRIPTION:Too often\, we myopically reduce the concept of calling to career choices\, but doing so assumes that God speaks to us with regard only to our work rather than speaking into the whole of our lives\, with work as one part. It is this layering within the larger context that can help us more clearly discern God’s direction for our work. \nThis Trellis draws from Makoto Fujimura’s book\, Art + Faith. The title might mistakenly lead some to believe that this book is written primarily for the artist or art enthusiast. To make this conclusion\, however\, would keep many from reading what we believe is one of the most important faith and work books written to date. Fujimura addresses a critically under-represented perspective and ethos of the faith and work movement through his interjection of a “theology of making”. Drawing from rich biblical and theological streams\, Fujimura helps us see a distinctive alternative that challenges the pragmatism overwhelmingly characterizing our approach to work today. \nThroughout the two-week experience\, you will be introduced to a variety of prayer forms\, learning to walk conversationally with God\, recognizing His voice in your life.  Trellis will guide you to integrate life-giving spiritual practices into everyday rhythms\, transforming and renewing our sense of calling.  Enter into this season with a new structure that provides the space and a community for hearing God’s voice and knowing who He reveals Himself to be in the midst of your everyday routines\, leading to holistic vitality. \nThe TRELLIS structure includes: \n\n1 Intro Session: Sun Feb 19\, 7:30-9p EST.
