SUMMARY:Trellis: Life-Giving Rhythms for Seeing Further
DESCRIPTION:In the Norse sagas\, “Ragnarok” is the end of the age\, the apocalypse that sweeps away gods and men alike. The stories tell of a winter without end\, a wolf that devours the sun\, and oceans that swallow the land. In that terrible twilight\, the watchman Heimdall stands on the rainbow bridge between the realms\, eyes trained on the horizon. His task is not to fight first\, but to see and to perceive what others cannot. In Neil Gaiman’s version of the tale\, Loki\, the shape-shifter\, taunts Heimdall proclaiming that he has won. And Heimdall replies simply: “I can see further.” \nIt’s a remarkable sentence as it carries the weight of his gift. Heimdall’s vision is not a trick of sharper eyesight; it’s the ability to perceive the present moment in light of what he knows is coming. In a time when fear narrows the gaze and chaos clouds the air\, the ability to see further is both a survival skill and an act of that heralds this future into being. \nThis is what the Scriptures call vision\, not just an ability to anticipate events\, but to interpret the present through the lens of God’s promises. It is not naïve optimism\, nor is it cynical realism. It is hope with its eyes open. \nOver the course of this two-week journey\, you’ll be invited into new ways of prayer\, learning to walk conversationally with God and to recognize His voice amid the patterns of your life. Yet of all our senses\, smell is the one we most often overlook. We go to a concert for sound\, a restaurant for taste\, a gallery for sight — but rarely do we stop to truly smell. This guided session is an invitation to slow down and pay attention. Part sensory tasting\, part conversation\, it reawakens one of our most emotional and underestimated senses — and gives you the language to understand\, choose\, and enjoy fragrance with new confidence. Scents to smell are woven throughout. \n\n\n\nTasting on Purpose with Vanessa Leong\nJoin Vanessa for a wine experience that breaks down the building blocks of tasting wine. Tasting on Purpose is more a journey of discovery than a lecture and you’ll walk away with a new vocabulary to describe what you like (or don’t like) in wine. Is there a more enjoyable way to practice attentiveness than with a glass of wine?? Vanessa has a WSET certification and has worked behind the scenes at a vineyard in France’s Rhône Valley. \n\n\n\nHopeful Intelligence with David Kim \nIn this interactive workshop\, David Kim will guide participants through an exploration of how community and spiritual wisdom can inform the way we design\, understand\, and collaborate with Al systems. We’ll be using a skill developed for this occasion to expand our imagination for the future. This offering will present a Hopeful Intelligence framework\, exploring how artificial intelligence can expand beyond efficiency and profit-driven assumptions to become an unprecedented tool for hope\, imagination\, and human flourishing. \n\n\n\nSpecial Saturday Night Event:\n\nListening Experience with Sandra McCracken\nJoined by Byron House on bass and Tim Nicholson on piano\, Sandra invites us into an immersive time of music\, contemplation\, and reflection. The Still Point is a new folk-neoclassical project created by Sandra and collaborator Ben Shive. The songs use repeated motifs and extended instrumentals to make space for the imagination to slow and expand.
